An expressed sequence tag or EST is a short sub-sequence of a cDNA (complementary DNA) sequence. HarvEST is principally EST database-viewing software that emphasizes gene function and is oriented to comparative genomics and the design of oligonucleotides, in support of activities such as SNPs, microarray content design, function annotation, and physical and genetic mapping.
